USA: BILL MCKIBBEN RECEIVES GANDHI PEACE AWARD

Bill McKibben, climate activist, author of The End of Nature and founder of 350.org, has been awarded the 2013 Gandhi Peace Award. The Peace Medallion, engraved with an image of Gandhi, is cast in bronze derived from disarmed and recycled nuclear weapons systems. Gandhi Peace Award nominees are distinguished by having made significant contributions to the promotion of an enduring international peace founded on justice, self-determination, diversity, compassion and harmony, achieved through nonviolent means – in the spirit of Gandhi.
