Emotional Connections

I was so pleased to read Andrew McAulay’s article about Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) in the last issue (Resurgence 272). Last spring I was commissioned to create a life-size bronze of Sir Horace Kadoorie welcoming visitors to KFBG. And as I was sculpting Sir Horace, I became more and more emotionally involved with the work of this wonderful man.

The Kadoorie brothers’ philosophy of ‘helping people to help themselves’ was demonstrated in all they did. As I read of Sir Horace’s generosity and his accomplishments, he emerged smiling and warm-hearted. ...
