Among the positives to be achieved by dying, the most pressingly attractive has to be escape from the interminable (perhaps not a tactful choice of word in this context) discussion with one’s similarly mature friends… of their ailments. You notice I stress their ailments. Whereas if only I were able to edge in with a contribution, the interest level would immediately be lifted. Almost all my ailments are absolutely fascinating.

Leaving that to one side for the moment, readers might find it useful if I remind them that ailments and I go back a long way, and so demonstrate how things have changed ...
