“Just as there is a rapidly increasing number of people pilgrimage walking, I’m detecting an increase in the number of people walking for different purposes, many of which are for peace,” says Paul Haines, 68, whose last walk from Rome to Jerusalem in 2015 was in aid of Children of Peace, a charity that funds many organisations helping children in Israel and Palestine.
