Writers’ guidelines for submissions
If you are interested in writing for Resurgence, please read our detailed guidelines before submitting a piece to the Editorial Department for consideration.
After reading the guidelines please submit a clear summary of the article you wish to write. This will help us (and you) determine whether this topic is a good fit with the Resurgence ethos - and thus improve the chances of any article you do write making it onto the pages of the magazine or website - please send us no more than four paragraphs.
This summary should include:
- The topic.
- How/why this topic will appeal to Resurgence readers.
- How/why this topic is relevant now i.e. timing of the article and any news peg.
- Which section of the magazine you think the article is suited to (see our Resurgence Writers’ Guidelines)
- Details of anyone you plan to interview for quotes to support the article.
- Your own credentials as the author of this piece in the form of a short bio-note.
Taking the time to present your idea to us in this way really does improve its chances of being accepted for publication. It gives us a better understanding of what you would like to write and why and, as a result, means we are in a stronger position to present your article for consideration at our weekly editorial planning meetings. We will contact you to let you know if we are interested in a longer piece.
All articles should be written specifically for Resurgence, reflecting its style and concerns, and not syndicated to other magazines/journals.
Please do not send large manuscripts, or raw articles.
If you do not hear from us after one month, please assume that your proposal is not quite what we are looking for at this time. Due to volume of enquiries, we are only able to respond to those proposals that we wish to commission and there may be a delay of several weeks before we contact you.
In your proposal please state if you require payment for your article (which will be at our not-for-profit rates, to be discussed and agreed on commission). Please also include full contact details, a brief biographical note and information about any previously published work.
