As part of our January Slow Sunday celebrations, we asked our members to “commit to one action to serve the planet in 2009” – and we know from the feedback we have received from our members that many of you have committed to grow more of your own food. Not only will this help reduce food miles, build resilience and encourage healthy lifestyles but it will link you to a diverse and creative community of like-minded people who ‘grow their own’.

For our Spring Slow Sunday on 29th March 2009 we would like to encourage you further to enjoy the seasonal pleasure of planting – be it a seed, a seedling or a sapling – in symbolic recognition that small actions really can lead to big change. The act of sowing a seed is an act of hope for the future, of trust in the generosity of the Earth and of solidarity with all beings.

Here at The Resurgence Trust, on Spring Slow Sunday 29th March, we will be planting two oak saplings in our Peace Grove to mark the 2,000th Resurgence Trust member.
